Bridal Undervention

By Aimee Guthinger

People undergo interventions for a wide range of reasons.  And often, that action promotes positive change.  Lately, I have been considering the idea of an under-intervention, an “undervention” for brides. Or, for that matter, for all of the women who visit our store.

There is a subtle irony in the idea that those hidden undergarments so important to our overall look often reveal more about us than we might think. Remember the infamous panty line from an under garment intended to smooth and contour, that inadvertently cries out for the wrong kind of attention when it is sized improperly or fit inappropriately for one’s body shape? It can be embarrassing, if not humbling. Thus, an “undervention” especially for a bride to be has the power to set the mood and tone for a positive and uplifting transition with little or no risk for exposure which might be of the wrong sort.

The underthings we choose to wear under a wedding dress have the power to set the tone for a bride’s matrimonial transformation.  The question we must consider is that with the myriad of lovely underwear styles & designs available, why are we all such creatures of habit?

You may think that you cannot wear a boy short or a high-cut bottom, but experimenting with your options is one of the best ways to discover what works best for you.  How many times has your fiancé surprised you by admiring something you thought he might not like?  It is probably true that most men, straight-forward as they can be, do not dwell too much on the underwear they might prefer on their spouses.  Yet, while they may not articulate their preference overtly, it is likely they will respond in some way.  Who knows, you may discover a new way to open his eyes.

Test your boundaries!  Test his! Whether you choose a traditional approach or try out a new one, you will certainly get a reaction.  And heck, remember this is not entirely about him either! Trying something new could also lead you to a favorite new bottom style that you never imagined liking so much. Be bold, be daring, wear something new!

Lauren, I can’t speak to specifics b/c I don’t know where you reside, but I’ll always encourage you to seek out specialty lingerie shops first, then major department stores. If you have trouble locating options, please free to message me with your zip code & I’ll research some options for you personally. Happy shopping & congratulations!

Where can a bride to be find these lovely little pieces?

So, is the woman afterwards going to get some practical wear out of these?
