A New Year’s Gift ~ Love

by Jacalyn Bennett

LOVE….more importantly…how does the way we feel about ourselves effect the way we are to others?

Our greatest gift is already in our possession…we have all that we need for a beautiful and fulfilling life.

This poem by David Whyte shows us that no matter how successful we are in the World, we all have questions of Self-Acceptance and issues with Self-Understanding as well as the understanding of others.

Some people have difficulty with the concept of Self Care and Self Love.  What we all need to learn and develop a comfort level with is that when we take care of ourselves with love and kindness, we may then extend that compassion and understanding to others.

May the Love we cultivate from within warm our beings and allow us to send love to all beings; thereby, spreading out light to all corners of our World and beyond.

My wish for you in this New Year is that you may nurture within yourself loving kindness,  acknowledging the new pathways to Self-Insights and Understanding.

Be awake. Be aware. Be LOVE.

Everything is Waiting for You

Your great mistake is to act the drama
as if you were alone. As if life
were a progressive and cunning crime
with no witness to the tiny hidden
transgressions. To feel abandoned is to deny

intimacy of your surroundings.  Surely,
even you, at times, have felt the grand array;
the swelling presence, and the chorus, crowding
out your solo voice. You must note
the way the soap dish enables you,
or the window latch grants you freedom.

is the hidden discipline of familiarity.
The stairs are your mentor of thingsz
to come, the doors have always been there
to frighten you and invite you,
and the tiny speaker in the phone
Is your dream-ladder to divinity.

Put down the weight of your aloneness and ease into
the conversation. The kettle is singing
even as it pours you a drink, the cooking pots
have left their arrogant aloofness and
seen the good in you at last. All the birds
and creatures of the world are unutterably
themselves. Everything is waiting for you.

-David Whyte
