Women of Substance ~ Panache Lingerie

I have been thinking a great deal lately about why I started this blog 5 years ago. I wanted to showcase merchandise worthy of display, to enhance the buyers exposure to the best there is in the market and to continue my support for creative pioneers. But, when the subject matter is Lingerie, there is an entirely different processor at work. We are now addressing the heart of a woman’s self-esteem. For the Intimate Apparel market, self-image and personal perception are the gold medal standard to which stores, particularly specialty stores, aspire. For me, lingerie has never been about men, or the come hither approach to marketing it. Lingerie is about empowerment; that which a woman experiences when she is wearing the right intimates for her particular shape. It is the glow of self-satisfaction delivered by a precious garment next to one’s skin.  It is the inner beauty of personal well-being, of feeling worthy in one’s own body.  This is a difficult goal because everywhere we turn, society sends the opposite message; we are a culture addicted to white bread beauty.

So when I was introduced to Panache’s new marketing campaign:  Modeled by Role Models, I was inspired.  Panache has stepped out of the traditional comfort zone and are highlighting six spectacular women whose stories elevate them to another kind of pedestal. They are, each in their own way, social heroines. And as they model some of the essential styles that have helped build the Panache brand over the past 30 years to its current status of go to bras and panties for the large cup woman, we have the opportunity to meet them and hear their personal success stories. Recognizing that “81% of women believe that having a role model helps raise aspirations”, Panache has chosen to be pioneers in shifting the paradigm of cultural perception of what is beautiful. I for one could not ignore this effort. So, please meet British T34 Paralympic wheelchair racer, Hannah Cockcroft; blood and organ donation campaigner, Martyna Kaczmarek; world renowned model Marquita Pring; Sports Therapist, Amy Hughes; British singer, Mica Paris; and Senior Nurse, Rachel Elliott.
