Lingerie Liaison ~ Maison Lejaby

I just finished reading a terrific novel by Susan Wittig Albert: Loving Eleanor. Based on the letters written during the 30 year friendship between Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok (Hick), it is an historically seamed tale of two incredibly strong women forging new frontiers during one of the most volatile periods of our nation’s history: the Great Depression, the New Deal and WWII.   Admired for their independent personalities and the courage of their convictions, they were modern feminists. Their complex liaison was a confluence of romance, stamina, support and perseverance. Theirs was a unique beauty, the kind that emanates from a confident woman not afraid to express herself.  In any relationship, complications can either inhibit or enable the future. It just depends on the depth of character and the fortitude to forge ahead.

Just as Lorena Hickok was a catalyst in forming Eleanor Roosevelt’s career, so is the consortium, led by CEO Alain Prost the ignition behind Maison Lejaby’s resurrection. Five years ago, this iconic French Lingerie company was floundering in a highly competitive industry. Willing to support the DNA of the brand’s 130 year history as a pioneer in corsetry and lingerie, Prost took the reins with a clear intent to raise the bar to its previous standard. The relationship has worked. Now clearly defined by three tiers: Maison Lejaby Premium, affordable corsetry and swimwear; Elixer, a seductive large cup collection and the Couture Collection, consisting of high-end lingerie swimwear and ready to wear, the brand addresses the multiple needs of a contemporary woman. This is what Lorena Hick did for Eleanor Roosevelt, propelling her to become known as “Eleanor Everywhere”. If the road on which Maison Lejaby is traveling continues its path, perhaps in Lingerie vernacular they will soon be recognized as “Maison Lejaby Inside and Out”
