Spring 2016 Lingerie Market wrapped up last week following a very successful Curvexpo New York show held at the Javits Center. I spent three full days there focused on mining the products that will matter to a retailer’s inventory, particularly specialty stores. Because there is so much to see and I live in New York, I wait to review the brands I can visit until after the expositions. That said, I use this stage … Read More

I just returned from the Mode City Swimwear/Lingerie and Interfilière  shows. If you have ever watched the movie Around The World In 80 Days, you might have some idea what my recent trip to Paris was like.  A confluence of unexpected events; 100 degree temperatures sans air-conditioning, a wicked cold in full fever mode and a camera that would not cooperate, made this particular trip a challenge. Nonetheless, journey accomplished, despite some obstacles, I did … Read More

This heat wave that has hit the Paris streets is unbelievable, but unlike the USA, nothing is air conditioned, including the Mode City Convention center where they handed out fans as we entered. I have to say that the extreme heat was not conducive to creative thought but I did manage to glean some useful direction.

Suffice it to say, though, that there are many more stories to tell as I delve deeper into the market for information and inspiration in the … Read More

This week is the semiannual Curvexpo, the premiere Intimate Apparel show in North America. For those of you who attend, or even if you do not, the highlights of the design messages proffered by the market are critical for both merchandising and fashion vision. Certainly, I touched upon the 2015 Lingerie trends when I reported live from the Salon International de La Lingerie in Paris. However, certain points are particularly viable for the … Read More

Colette-in-Paris

Lingerie is to me a way of lifting women up. It is, if handled with class, the mystique that infiltrates our wardrobes, a voyage to femininity and self-esteem. It was rainy and grey in Paris this past week, typical January weather, and perhaps it affected my perception that the city had lost come of its luster. I try to leave my politics out of this column but in the wake of recent current events, it … Read More

I was thinking about Paris the other night; how many weddings and honeymoons happen in this city of dreams.  I kept searching for images to tell the story and then, I realized that nothing says “J’Accept” like French Bridal Lingerie.  In the end, these beautiful designs turn into keepsakes in a brides memoirs.  Old or New they still say “I Do”
