Whether it’s Selena Gomez in a pair of sexy House of Holland Chain Super Suspenders strutting through Paris with Justin Beiber or Kate Middleton walking the down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in her signature Nude Nylons, Legware is everywhere.
Gone are the saggy blue pairs of Nylons worn by generations of frumpy secretaries. We are at a moment that is Mad Men meets this Millennium when it comes to stylish hosiery.
Here in the US, the market for legwear is expected to grow to 2.8 billion dollars this year and it’s not difficult to see how this happened. Revolutionary new fabrics shape fleece lined leggings, ubiquitous with brown Uggs in my part of NYC, and extra light nylons grace the designs of some of my favorite designers like Jonathan Aston and House of Holland. The fusion of art and science has helped bring funky new designs at affordable prices.
