When the New Year approaches, every woman will want to look dazzling in her best party dress. But, the excesses of the Christmas season may see some of us adding a pound or two to our waistlines. Shapewear can help to hide away any damage done over the festive period, by giving you a shapely look, and making you sparkle at any New Year’s party. Here are some items of shapewear worth splashing out on this season.

1. Whole Body

Julie France

Whole body shapewear has some real advantages, in that it helps to shape up and tone all parts of your torso, including chest, tummy, bottom, hips and thighs. It allows you to stay in total control, whilst affording you a sleek silhouette. There are lots of different styles of whole body shapewear, depending on the type of dress you plan to wear this New Year. You could opt for a strapless body slip, if your dress is also strapless. Or, an open bust slip for ultimate control. Equally, a seamfree slip is perfect for not wanting to show any visible lines through your dress.

 2. Bottom

Marie Jo L’Aventure

If you want to flatter your bottom, then consider buying shapewear that will enhance your backside once you’ve got your party dress on. Again, there are lots of styles to choose from, and colours of either nude or black. Some shapewear designed to give shape to your bottom also has a duel function of accentuating your thighs as well, so it’s worth considering getting a pair like this, if you want total bottom and thigh control. Why not click here to try the Jay Body Shaper from Marie Jo L’Aventure, it has the added bonus of helping to control your tummy too!

 3. Tummy And Waist

Prima Donna

For many women, their weak areas are their tummies and waist. But, if you’re one of those who struggles to maintain a washboard waistline, then don’t feel you won’t be able to fit into your party frock this New Year’s Eve. Fortunately, there are lots of shapewear on the market aimed at tackling this problematic area, so there will be something out there to flatter your body shape and pair up with your dress.  You could opt for a full slip that pulls the tummy in, or a sheer camisole in nude. High waist briefs or shorts also give you total tummy and waist control and can easily be found in nude or black. Don’t think you have to stick to neutrals though, check out this link for gorgeous red A La Folie control briefs from Prima Donna, shapewear can be bright and sexy too!

4. Shapewear Dresses

DMondaine

Increasingly, you can now find shapewear dresses, which are actual dresses that have shapewear technology incorporated into them, to offer the same benefits and features that you’d expect from normal shapewear. The great thing about this is that you don’t need to wear separate shapewear, and you can choose from a wide range of styles of dresses – so there is no compromise on fashion styling! Shapewear dresses are affordable and are as elegant as any other dresses you’d find on the high street.

5. Maternity Shapewear

Spanx

If you’re pregnant over the coming holiday season, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t feel totally gorgeous about your body shape, and one way to accentuate your yummy mummy-to-be curves is by investing in some maternity shapewear. Spanx maternity shapewear includes mid thigh shapers, with the shorts having under belly and lower back support, which helps to smooth the hips, thighs and bottom. So, you can still look and feel fabulous in your maternity party dress!
