Bralettes Make A Public Appearance

We’ve come a very long way since loin clothes and leaf pasties, and the bra has ridden the decades in many forms. Today we are experiencing the bra in a whole new way, and that is as outerwear. This is not the “bustier” or the cone bra that defined Madonna’s representation of a power woman in the 80’s this is a revolution more reminiscent of the 60’s and the decade of free love and bra burning.

Today’s bralettes offer a wide range of support and silhouettes – lacey, silky, triangle, bandeau, crop top and more. They define a generation experiencing much of the same liberation as the 60’s. There is a free spirit behind the current wireless trend that echoes that of the women of the 60’s who saw bras of the time as repressing their natural silhouette. This new “it” girl is wearing bralettes under sheer blouses or low cut tanks to outdoor festivals like Coachella, expressing her uniqueness and wearing lingerie for her own fashion pleasure.
