Some years ago, when I was juggling 3 kids and a full time job, my oldest friend and I would take one long week-end each June for a reprieve. She anointed me Secretary of Transportation; my only responsibility was to get us to our destination. She took on all logistics, which was a vacation in itself for the multi-tasking me. I have very warm memories of those brief segues into adult sanity. One of my fondest was a trip we took to Nantucket, leaving our car on the mainland and renting bicycles with which we explored the island during 3 days of perfect weather. The images I recall have sustained me through some often stormy days. We rode past at least 6 weddings at chapels we passed en route, swam at empty beaches against a vast blue sky and stopped at an endless cadre of charming cottages, all embraced from foundation to roof with flowers in full bloom. This cascade of petals breathing color into every scene made an indelible impression on me. Perfect visual harmony is so rare.
So, when I saw Flora Nikrooz’s new Desire Collection, so aptly named for the vision it provokes, I thought back to this bucolic venue, a wedding and honeymoon paradise. There is no question that Flora commands a substantial position in the bridal market. Now her take on “honeymoon” lingerie is expanding the brand’s reach. The minute I walked into the showroom I was drawn to these dynamic designs; feminine and sassy and anything but traditional. Soft poly crepe trimmed in charmeuse, the luscious engineered print conrols the story. Available in P-L, these styles will make a lasting impression.
