A Ray of Sunshine ~ Laurence Tavernier S/S 2020

By ELLEN LEWIS

It’s cold, grey and dreary in New York and it basically has been more of the same since I returned from Cabo San Lucas in mid December. I miss my Mexican happy place. This image of the sky over my house sent by a well meaning neighbor does not do the trick. I need a shot of spring, a bolt of color, something to get excited about. For most northerners, January begins the winter escape to warmer weather.  For me, it’s the deep dive into Fall 2020 market, which includes a trip next week to Interfilière and Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris. In preparation, I have been rooting through my files, forming lists of brands that are always worthy of review. Guess what, I found my shot of color.

Previewing the Laurence Tavernier Spring 2020 collections, I realized that this French brand which I have watched for years, has just what the doctor ordered. Extremely high quality, understated homewear holds sway over a niche consumer base of both men and women who understand the virtues of classic luxury. Each style stands alone, viable for sleeping, lounging, beachwear and easy entertaining. Known for their gorgeous fabrics and tailored to perfection, the Ysia lounger in stretch silk pictured here is just one of a cadre of designs whose simple clarity caught my eye. Available in XS-XL, it’s a ray of much needed sunshine.
