The Evolution Show, just by its location and easy going vibe, is always an intimate affair. Many of the trends replicate my research in Paris at the Salon International de la Lingerie. Green and Pink presided. I saw Asian influences, watery florals and the infusion of bird motifs in prints. Floral laces juxtaposed with graphic details as well as multi-thread embroideries. There is always a modicum of leather and bondage. I discovered a new brand (new to me) Magnetic Me, whose use of snap closures embedded in the fabric addresses a huge market that is often set aside by other brands. But the issue I found most important stems from my conversations with several brands was the frustration they sometimes feel with the American market who do not always appreciate the value inherent in products in which detail defines the product. The intent is to educate the consumer. How do we communicate that value is not necessarily about price. Quality is an investment. Less can be more. Many of these pieces become keepsakes..
