Founded almost 40 years ago near Lake Garda, within the Italian hosiery district, Oroblu is a hosiery and bodywear brand defined by ‘high performance’ comfort and function, alongside an emphasis on color.
A prime example of their functional focus is their Shock Up line. Introduced in the 1990s, their designers were inspired by the era’s love for push-up bras to create a pantyhose product that would lift and sculpt the derrière in a similar way. After months of research, they landed on a design with comfortable knit-in support bands that was such a success, it’s still in the collection and one of their bestsellers to this day.
Around the same time, Oroblu also began introducing other types of seamless garments into the range alongside its hosiery, such as underwear and tank tops. It was a natural evolution, taking the 360° circular knitting machines at their heart of the brand’s technical expertise, and applying it to the wider wardrobe. Today, they offer lingerie, swimwear, bodysuits, base layers and loungewear, though they’re still best known for their socks and legwear.
“The hosiery industry is a unique and fascinating sector,” said Marketing Director Monica Moscheni, when asked about whether she felt hosiery followed wider fashion trends or carved its own niche, “Some consumers view tights as underwear, while others see them as a true fashion accessory. Our challenge is to bridge these two perspectives by offering a product that provides the comfort expected of an item worn next to the skin, yet remains visible and easily paired with various outfits.”
Oroblu’s love affair with fashion-forward color is perhaps best showcased through their All Colors 50 denier tights range, which currently includes a choice of 14 solid colors from simple neutrals to jazzy orange and pistachio green. (Next season, they’re launching in a vibrant mustard and cobalt blue, among others.) But color can be found throughout their collection, from diamond shimmer versions to stylish fishnet or lace, all available in an ever-changing selection of hues.
For their upcoming FW26 collection, the theme was a return to purity; minimalist, timeless essentials that don’t constrain, allowing the body to move freely and naturally. For those who prefer their hosiery’s fiber content to have an equally natural touch, a color palette of Botanic Green, Peony Pink and Deep Red will be available in a soft cashmere blend. Their Sneaker Tights line which has reinforced soles for durability and comfort with sneakers or boots, is made with yarn derived from industrial corn, a renewable resource. They will also be introducing a new silk-wool blend rib fabrication in bodywear.
