Living in Mexico has kept me away from the New York May market for quite some time, but this year, family circumstances brought me back and, as it turns out, right where I love to be. For a seasoned merchant like me, attending the Wacoal-Europe and Wacoal-America Spring 2027 showcase for specialty store buyers felt less like business and more like a gift, a silver lining I didn’t know I needed.
Fantasie
Wacoal-Europe, the corporate umbrella for Elomi, Fantasie, Freya, and Goddess, opened the presentation with a tightly edited runway moment that felt both intimate and impactful. Perhaps it was the scale of the showroom, or simply the clarity of the message, but the collections, lingerie and swim alike, were, quite simply, brilliant. Excitement swelled around Freya’s reimagined styles, and the Essentially Smooth initiative. There was a confidence in the product that required no embellishment. Add to that a comprehensive and transparent presentation of their marketing strategies, and it became clear: this is a team that knows exactly who they are speaking to and precisely how to reach them.
Elomi
Wacoal-America followed with a first-quarter preview that balanced technical precision with creative nuance, something they’ve always done well, though here it felt especially refined. Between b.tempt’d’s new Nearly Nothing Collection and the continued momentum behind Wacoal’s Back Appeal bra, both innovation and proven success were on full display. As someone who has worked with the brand for years, I found myself genuinely impressed by the evolution. But what resonated most was the marketing vision. Modern, sophisticated, and visually compelling, it feels entirely aligned with today’s consumer. I’m hoping to share more of that with you soon on Lingerie Briefs. It’s worth seeing.

There was a great deal to absorb, yes, but also a deeper sense of reconnection: with the product, with the people, and with the pulse of the market itself. I left feeling energized, inspired, and reminded why these moments matter. That’s market magic.
