August kicked off with two important lingerie shows: Curve NY and Evolution. This season, I’m doing things a little differently. I’ll take you inside Curve this week, with Evolution coming next Friday. Quite simply, there were too many images to squeeze into one post!
I captured several hundred photographs at Curve, including an intriguing selection of swimwear from intimate apparel brands. Beyond the fit expertise inherent in these collections, I’m always interested in how the beachwear market influences lingerie, and this season, that connection was especially evident.
So, from my perspective, here’s the skinny on what caught my eye:
Simone Pérèle
Color takes center stage. Blue, Yellow, Pinks and shots of Red. Brown arrives as a new basic. Bold brights and jeweled accessories bring a sense of glamour to swim. Maison Close becomes Scandale. Sweat-inhibiting technology finds its way into sleepwear, while sleepwear and loungewear continue to merge.
And then there’s lace, lace and more lace. Add transparency, shine, stripes (as always), and oversized florals, and you have a pretty compelling snapshot of where the market is headed.
There are close to 100 photos below. Take a look and see what catches your eye.
