Curvexpo Wrap ~ Part 1

Untitled-1begDerek Rose & Christine Lingerie

As usual, following the Paris Salon de la Lingerie and Interfiliѐre show, I attended all three days of the Curve NY Lingerie Expo. As the market is for me, the center of my focus, I spent a great deal of time foraging through different brand offerings to confirm and learn what my merchandising instincts have already told me is on the horizon for Fall 2016. The trends are obvious, many expanding from the Paris exposition. The message for the North American market is clear. I will wrap up this expose on Friday, identifying several (new for me) resources whose collections I found interesting, for one reason or another. The highlights presented here are more a result of my photography skills and less a comment on a company not featured. Here’s the scoop:

Loungewear has transformed into ready to wear BUT, executed properly, it maintains its original purpose: comfort first. The integration of underpinnings as layering pieces have evolved this category into a lifestyle bonanza. Based on what I saw in Europe, the American savvy in this niche puts the potential of growth here way ahead of the pack.

Transparency dominates. Whether it is with lace or fabrics, airy, light intimates are a major statement. Turned inward or meant to be seen, weightless pieces ooze sensuality. Bodysuits are particularly prevalent here

Prints are watery, loose, soft handed and chic. There is a major Asian influence. Playful still matters and the influence of digital printing is paramount. Oh, yes, roses still really matter.

The color story for Fall is as blue and purple (and variations of this) as we stated in earlier articles. Of course there are other colors but these dominate the fashion palettes, particularly in foundations

The innovations in the foundations business is of particular interest. It is difficult to show the detail here, so I will save it for another day. I wish I could delve deeper here into all the categories, but there is not enough time. We are supposed to be “Brief”.
