Morúa Corsetry & Couture

By ALISON CONNOLLY

To be able to design and create lingerie is one thing, to have the skills and training to design corsets is quite another!  That is why when we discover a talent in the old world craft of corsetry:  it typically involves someone who has very specific training and tailoring expertise.  It is no surprise that Gerry Quinton, the force behind the brand Morúa, is precisely that person.  With an education beginning in fashion design at Columbia College (where she received prestigious awards for design excellence), Quinton moved to the UK to work as a pattern maker and study antique corsets in the archives of the Museum of London.  Her background and technical training was just one part of the formula to create Morúa, the other was Quinton’s intrinsic talent and artistic vision.

Currently based in Chicago, Morúa offers bespoke designs and fitting services for ladies who wish to wrap themselves in the expression of Quinton’s creativity.  Each corset creates a graceful silhouette that can be styled and layered to fit the personality of each lady lucky enough to slip into (& be tied up into) one! From blushing brides to sultry pinups, Morúa offers a bit of something for any person who appreciates romantic inspiration in their wardrobe.
