My first known encounter with Katie Roger’s artwork was at the Curve Lingerie show last February when I stopped by the Bedhead Pajamas booth to see what was new. I am always anxious to learn how Renee Claire (CEO and designer) has transformed a basic, luxury cotton pajama into a conversational icon. Her spring 2016 “Belle of the Ball” collection is a classic example of Renee’s intuitive eye for sophisticated whimsy.
In an effort to intrigue retailers and maximize sales for summer 2016, a traditionally slower sales period, she sought out and initiated a collaboration with Katie Rogers, the artistic force behind Paper Fashion. Katie, already well known for her work with clients such as Cartier, Christian Louboutin, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Elie Saab, Fendi, Veuve Clicquot, Disney, Lancome, Alicia Keys and many, many more began her Bedhead partnership by translating her ball gown paintings into a fantastical vignette perfect for nightwear. Capitalizing on Katie’s fanciful watercolor technique, Bedhead will deliver the “Lipstick” and “Fashion Week” series this summer. I am pretty excited about this partnership, particularly because, for once, lingerie led me to the discovery of a very talented artist instead of the reverse. And, as for Bedhead, Renee’s vision has been realized as volume for May-July has already passed expectations achieving their highest levels ever.
