I have been in Cabo now for almost 3 months, through spring break, Easter week, and Memorial Day. Cruise ships, sometimes 3 abreast have been in the harbor almost daily until the beginning of June. This is not only an expat and getaway destination for a slew of Canadian and American tourists, but it is also a major vacation spot for Mexican mainlanders. (We are a separate, isolated peninsular, solo from the rest of the country). The beach is at our fingertips and for those of us who live here, the incoming hot weather puts us 20 feet from the tide line at least once a week. Beachwear in this town is as common a sight as black clothes are in NYC. It’s difficult to ignore the swim and cover-up fashions and lately, my growing interest in the swimwear market has peaked my instincts. I have noticed a wide variety of swimsuits, particularly on the beach from tropical prints, to color blocking, bandeaus and hi waisted briefs and some serious straps, cut outs and lots of non-matching separates. I know this isn’t new information, but what I find especially important is how one company, Wacoal-Europe Swimwear, has managed to capture all of these trends because of their excellent branding protocol. The Fantasie, Freya, Elomi swim collections have expertly addressed these trends for large cup sized women of all ages and attitudes. There are choices for women sized 32-40, D-HH cups and S-2X bottoms as well as plus sizes 16-26. Its a huge boost to supporting female self-esteem. No wonder their business is causing waves.
