“Outrageously Adorable” is the term that comes to mind when thinking of Glitter and the Moon. This vintage-inspired label from the UK is where kitsch meets glamour. It’s without a doubt a brand that is overflowing with frothy ruffles, dreamy chiffon and wonderful whimsy!
Established in 2015, many of the pieces by Glitter and the Moon are embellished with sequins, beads and embroidery illustrations that range from cocktail glasses, dice, and beauty salon products to burlesque girls, love letters and hearts. There seems to be embroidery that suits the needs of every girly-girl, and to top that off, you can add your name and initials for personalization of many of the designs! I’m swooning at the thought! Even brides are encouraged to personalize items from the Fairytale Bridal collection with their name and wedding date.
Naturally when you slip into one of these retro-styled pieces, you can’t help but want to channel your inner Dita Von Teese or Marilyn Monroe, so have your red lipstick ready.
It makes sense that the founder of the company, Heidi Cannon, has a background in illustration and fashion, and previously ran a stationery brand (that explains the love letters). Those illustrations are what set these French knickers, satin crepe robes and bed jackets apart from every other vintage-inspired brand I’ve seen. As someone who has a background in all things frou-frou*, I can give this brand my stamp of approval (and would have been quite eager to become a stockist). As expected, each piece is hand-finished with the utmost attention to detail and no product is mass-produced.
The bottom line is this, if you’re a gal who’s interested in building a fabulous boudoir wardrobe, and have a flair for pin-up and burlesques styling, Glitter and the Moon is a necessary addition!
