Etam ~ Spring / Summer 2017 Runway

By ALISON CONNOLLY

There’s lingerie for everyday life, there’s lingerie for special occasions, and then there’s lingerie for the runway!  As with any runway show, looks from a brand’s core collection are borrowed, layered and interpreted into the most dazzling, imaginative displays of fashion.  I was thrilled that the French lingerie brand Etam once again showcased its collection during Paris Fashion Week (September 2016), and showed us its creativity in full-force.  The theme of this year’s show was a celebration of French Liberty (hence, some French flag-inspired swimwear designs).  I did find myself asking more than once “why don’t they design this for us to purchases?” with some of the more spectacular pieces (like the impressive legwear, or the gloves, and feather accessories), but that’s par for the course with runway items.  Ultimately the goal is to inspire us, and also see the full potential of the collection.  This post showcases the Spring/Summer 2017 lingerie collection (which is only available for purchase in select European countries), but the runway show did include plenty of darling swimwear styles.  Simply too much for one blog post!  To see the full collection (and it’s worth it), visit the Vogue Paris website.
