Lingerie Briefs ~ by Ellen Lewis

Holiday Artistry ~ Jane Woolrich Bridal Lingerie

By ELLEN LEWIS

I know that Russia has been in the news in a not so good way lately, but that is politics.  Of Russian descent, I choose to see the heritage differently. Even though my grandfather was forced to escape the Czar’s wrath at the turn of the 19th century, I prefer to see the culture as an icon of great artistry and romance. It is the extraordinary performances of  rare talent that influences my perception. Think Tchaikovsky, Diaghilev, Pavlova, Bariyshnikov, Nureyev, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Pushkin and Chekov to name a few heroes of Ballet, Music and Literature. Now, there is Jane Woolrich Lingerie, recently honored by an invitation to exhibit her collection in Moscow.  Her exceptional reception seems fitting from a culture dedicated to great achievement.  In my opinion, there are few designers whose work captures the original core finesse of lingerie technique quite like Jane’s designs: Calais laces and silk draped into glamorous and unique pieces; sleepwear and corsets always feminine, and romantic. Jane’s bridal collection is highlighted here, not only because it is an enchanting gift for a discerning bride, but also because when it comes to weddings, there is nothing quite like December for a luxurious affair.
