Dandyesque Dress Code ~ Maison Marcy

By ALISON CONNOLLY

I sure do appreciate a brand that has personality.  I also appreciate a brand that incorporates adorable canines into their campaigns.  That’s where the brand Maison Marcy captured my attention.  Within moments of seeing their first image, I knew I needed to see more.  This is perhaps the first brand I’ve personally featured in the Gallery that designs for both men and women; it’s actually much harder for me to generate interest in men’s loungewear, which made me appreciate the work of Maison Marcy that much more.

This Belgium brand was established in 2012, and specializes in pajamas and loungewear with a “dandyesque” style and a “cool elegance.”  It’s preppy and luxurious without taking itself too seriously.   In fact, it is perhaps the very first upscale brand that has featured dogs wearing its designs!  The range includes a variety of colors and patterns, made using the finest Pima cotton, poplins, and satin.  Of course the designs have classic PJ finishing touches like contrast piping, mother-of-pearl buttons and special embroideries.  All of the pajamas are menswear-inspired, and have a hint of Cary Grant / Audrey Hepburn elegance injected with the quirky style of a Wes Anderson film.  The current season is more specifically influenced by Ivy League dress codes (think “Dead Poets Society”) and seventies love films like “The Way We Were” and “Love Story”.

Hopefully you will have as much fun as I did looking through these campaign images!

With my favorite breed, a shiba inu!
