When it comes to overtly sexy, fetishistic lingerie, it’s usually either very cheaply made and ill-fitting, or very expensive. German lingerie brand Lucky Cheeks offers something different: tasteful, mid-priced pieces which offer a sense of luxury and beauty without losing their risqué edge.
The brand was founded by Muriel Klink, who has been interested in garment design and fascinated by beautiful textiles since a young age. In 2007, she left the engineering industry to fulfil her dream of owning a luxury lingerie boutique. It was while running this multi-brand retail site that she noticed a lack of high-end G strings. That’s exactly what Lucky Cheeks, a brand which “stands for seduction, elegance and extraordinary quality”, now specializes in.
Klink founded Lucky Cheeks in 2013 with just three styles, before launching a Kickstarter campaign in 2015 to raise international awareness and introduce two more styles to the product range. The campaign was successfully funded and now, seven years on, there are close to 100 designs to choose from including new iterations of the original G string plus even skimpier T strings, V strings, ‘micro’ strings with lower front coverage, and the most insubstantial of all: crotchless strings.
So what makes all of these underwear designs special? It’s all in the fine-quality materials. While there may not be very much fabric to speak of, Klink makes what is there count by choosing beautiful Swiss embroideries and pairing them with nickel-free jewelry chains adorned with Swarovski elements. All fabrics and components are sourced from within Europe, and the strings themselves are produced ethically and locally, at Lucky Cheeks’ own atelier in Germany.
Strings are available in sizes XXS to XL, covering US sizes 0-20, and prices range from approximately $30 to $45 with each piece arriving in a luxurious presentation box with a magnetic closure. A handful of coordinated accessories are also available, and most recently of all, the brand has expanded into making micro bikinis. Perhaps matching triangle bras will be next to come?
