Interfiliere will emerge from its cocoon this July in Los Angeles, and it promises to be spectacular. For those of you who have never been it’s the premier sourcing venue for men’s and women’s intimate apparel and beyond. It is a showcase for designers, product developers, sourcing experts, and manufacturers. For those of you who have been before you are in for a new ride. The show is constantly evolving like our industry and staying ahead of the game is paramount. The exhibitors represent the best in fabric, lace, and accessory resources across the globe.
REJUVENATION
I will begin with rejuvenation because everything depends on it. Sleep is my nourishment as much as food. The quest for rest and vitality is embedded in my life almost to the point of being stressfulJ .I am beholden to my Oura ring and have no plans to give it up. I have gummies, weighted sleep masks, thermo-regulating pajamas and underwear and they do the job, I kid you not. I also just ordered some fascia flowing compression tights, wish me luck!
WELLBEING/WELLNESS
Maintaining that vitality is another big business with which I am wholly invested. I can’t remember a time in my life where I cared more about what I eat, what I wear and how much stress I endure. I’m not only eating healthy ingredients and herbs, but I’m also wearing them. It’s remarkable what they can add to a fabric, things like CBD, Aloe, Mint, etc. and now our industry is using sugarcane to make fabrics and laces. The innovation is mind boggling. Feeling good is physical and emotional.
WANDERLUST
I want to go back in time, I’m thinking the 70’s or 80’s, it just seems logical, I want to don a NIK NIK shirt and bell bottoms and make peace signs with my fingers. I’ve rediscovered the tv show Fantasy Island (don’t judge). The music I listen to is older than most of the people I work with. I want to board the “mothership” (IYKYK) and a be a pioneer on a new planet, I’m ready. Yes, I know it ain’t happening, so I will have to settle for Tahiti or Shanghai or Prague, and I will need to pack the right fabrics. Fabrics that wrinkle less, are light weight, absorb moisture, control odor and are anti-microbial and water repellant. Escapism is the new “nesting”.
LIVING A LUXE LIFE
Would I prefer to be wealthy, of course, do I know anyone who wouldn’t, no? I do believe that it is a luxury to wake up rejuvenated in my own bed, to have whatever I crave for breakfast, to have the freedom to exercise, to meditate, to go to work or play and to travel where my heart takes me. Having family and a community I can count on…these are all luxuries and I am therefore living a very luxurious life. But I wouldn’t turn down a month long cruise along the Rhine or a full Marni wardrobe and one of everything from the new LaPerla launch coming soon, just sayin’.
I am not so naïve to think that a fabric can change my life, yet the right fabric can have an impact. Come visit us in LA and get a treat for all the senses…. especially the sense of touch.
