Party Smartly With Va Bien

I am not much of a TV watcher, but once in a while I find myself totally absorbed in a series that manages to capture my imagination.  I usually wait a season or two for positive buzz and then I settle into Netflix, commercial free and non-stop. My most recent obsession is the highly acclaimed “Revenge”.  The story contradicts everything I believe.  It is a testimony to over-indulgence, payback and blind ambition but I am hooked.  I will say that the underlying theme, that any problem can be solved with perseverance, appeals to me. Excuses aside, I think it’s the guilty pleasure one gets watching the rich and famous and the glamorous lifestyles they perpetuate. Nothing showcases it better than the sumptuous South Hampton parties that weave through this provocative tale.   It’s fun to pretend that life is a party, even if the moment never lasts.  I think, perhaps, that “Revenge” is the modern Gatsby.
