Amidst the bagels, muffins, photography, hair and makeup operation, a hovering groom, and the general anticipatory vibe that surrounds a wedding morning, my sisters, Maria’s aunts, were holding down the fort.
At some point, naturally, the subject of bras came up. More specifically, the ultimate question: What are the bras we actually love to wear? Up came their shirts to reveal Evelyn & Bobbie’s Defy on Beth, Evelyn on Carla and The Structured Scoop on me. That says a lot. I have been touting Evelyn & Bobbie for years because I love products that actually deliver on their promise. These do. I own all three of these styles, and I wear each one for a different reason. They have become my go-to bras, the ones I reach for without thinking because I know they will work.
The Defy is my “everyday” bra. It’s the ultimate no-fuss, go-everywhere style, with full-coverage smoothing and a beautifully wide strap. What I particularly love is how unobtrusive it feels. It’s almost forgettable, in the best possible way. Like a second skin, it simply goes about its business without demanding your attention.
The Evelyn is the “uplifter.” It has a more structured feel, with back smoothing and a flattering V-neck that makes it especially versatile under clothing. It’s also a terrific option for women looking for a post-surgical bra. There’s more architecture to this one, but Evelyn & Bobbie manages to keep it comfortable and wearable.
And then there’s The Structured Scoop, my “wardrobe MVP.” This is the one I reach for when the neckline matters. It creates a polished silhouette under scoop-neck styles. It’s the only smooth-back style of the three with adjustable straps, which makes it particularly adaptable. Poised, practical, and ready for just about anything in my closet.
So, there we were: three sisters, three bras, one wedding morning, and without even planning it, we had created our own little Evelyn & Bobbie testimonial. Now that’s what I call product placement. And perhaps the best endorsement of all is that none of us was wearing one because we were writing about the brand. We wear them because we actually like them.
