As many of you might already be aware, we have taken a dive into our own Swimwear Briefs column. Written by Jennifer Cermak, swim professor, maestro of Nani Nalu beachwear boutique and designer of Jenna Sea, an emerging luxury brand fitting D-G cups, we have watched this category evolve from a touch of fashion to a major margin builder in Lingerie stores across North America. Swimwear is the closest thing to underwear with the added reality that it is always exposed. Fit, fashion and feminine satisfaction is a formula best handled by experts. No wonder savvy Intimate shops continue to massage this classification. The possible item extensions in cover ups only serves to enhance the story.
On a personal level, I still remember when I wore constructed bras under my Danskin leotards to the beach. I have mentioned before that in my better body days, Swim brands did not really exist that combined support and flair. So even though Jennifer has a boatload of information, I am constantly intrigued by the breath of choice now available through the Intimates market, where manipulating construction with design is a creative art.
It might be 0 degrees in the Northeast today, with blinding snow impeding our progress, but the 2014 Cruise season has begun.
