Lingerie Briefs ~ by Ellen Lewis

Technical Art ~ Hanky Panky BARE®

Many years ago while spear heading Macy’s branding initiative; I was given an opportunity to transfer to Ready to Wear.  To the surprise of many, I turned it down.  At the time, Lingerie was a profitable, yet somewhat mundane merchandising category in the then robust department store milieu.  So why eschew the glamour of fashion apparel for bras and panties?  As I told management while making my case for funding their Intimates Initiative, “It’s all in the details”.  To develop a product that lives so close to the naked body and is comfortable, supportive and will perform at full throttle is a real challenge.  Less about what can be seen, and more about what she feels, intimates must appeal first to a woman’s private psyche.  Yes, sexy is nice and beautiful lingerie is an art form, but function pays the bills and keeps a woman coming back for more.

The female body is a complex conglomerate of curves.  Engineering lingerie to fit comfortably across a plethora of shapes and sizes is a daunting challenge.  The development of a panty that can achieve this objective is no easy task.  It requires steadfast focus on every detail. This is what the new Hanky Panky BARE® collection has achieved.  Other underwear companies sell “invisible “panties, but what is so special about this particular panty is its innovative technical construction.  Fashioned in an incredibly light Italian knit that coats the torso like a second skin, it is developed purposely with contours that follow a woman’s body lines guaranteeing it will stay in place.  Designing a panty that feels as if it’s not even there requires real expertise.  Sized in XS – L in Natural-Rise, the Hanky Panky signature fit prevails making this underwear “What to Wear When You Want to Look Bare®”
