Wedding Dress Shapewear

If you have never been to Cape Cod, you should go. In the nineteenth century it was the whaling capital of the world. Today it is still home to the cantankerous, yet remarkably lovable New Englanders memorialized in films old and new. Its unique setting and character make it one of the most loved vacation spots in the world. Its quaint seaside villages sprinkled with sailing boats and lobster traps are surrounded by beaches and recreation of all ilk. It is no wonder that today Cape Cod remains one of the most popular wedding destinations.
Lucky for us because in our shop, Bedroom I’s Boutique, located in Osterville, we do a lot of fittings for brides, their mothers and mothers-in-law to be, and their wedding parties. And regardless of where such a seminal event takes place, we all know a wise woman must find a versatile and comfortable foundation to build upon first. With that basic need taken care of, the bride can then try on various dresses over a flatter, more comfortable silhouette. Imagine the challenge of finding the proper underthings after deciding on the dress!
Even if your dress or outfit has already been selected, don’t fret, you are not alone. Prior to alteration, bring it to your fitting. No matter how expert the fitter, without the garment on hand, guaranteeing the perfect foundation fit is a challenge. Any quality seamstress or tailor will insist that you have the proper foundation before they proceed in pinning or altering your garment. Of course, I agree. Two brands renown for bridal shapewear are Julie France and Va Bien.
Chantelle has just introduced new hi-rise shapers with a higher back. Yea! At our recent in store bra fit event it was easy to see how those of us with the all too well known apple body shape; you know who you are, will discover that you can layer the hi-rise over or under your bra band and enjoy the seamless security of a one-piece undergarment with the convenience of two pieces. How many of you have tried hi-rise underthings in the past only to find they separate during the course of wear creating a sausage like roll between the top of the shapewear piece and your bra band? Chantelle has a solution. Perfect for the bride with a body shaped like mine.
Shapewear, close-fitting spandex enhanced garments will never hide those dietary sins we all delight in from time to time, but it will smooth your lines, lumps, and bumps and enhance how you look. However, the correct size is important. Squeezing into a smaller size than your body needs will do more harm than good. It is hard to hide excess flesh. It has to go somewhere and where it ends up may not be so appealing especially if something comes undone at an inopportune time. Shapewear horror stories are not amusing. As any woman knows, in this case, size matters.
Thanks, this was helpful! Agreed that shapewear should be about creating your best shape and not trying to be smaller.
