An Olympic Effort ~ Lingerie Fashion Night “IN” by CURVExpo

From the moment of the opening ceremonies in Sochi throughout the past few days of mind-boggling athleticism, I am reminded of the extraordinary effort behind seemingly effortless achievements.  The painstaking work required to perform at Olympic levels is often camouflaged behind the breathtaking results that the athletes achieve.  A skater floats across the ice in perfect sync to the music; a skier catapults down a mountain at 65 miles an hour and a snowboarder tumbles in the air 72 feet high without missing a trick. The ease of the performance belies the 10 hour practice days and the multitude of coaching hours required perfecting an event.  I remember in college when my boyfriend was training for the Olympic crew trials, of my dismay at his coach as he criticized one oar out of sync by a fraction of an inch.  But winning is all in the details, and an inch could make a team lose by a photo finish.

How prescient is it that the Fall/Winter 2014 Curve Lingerie Trade Show occurs during the Olympics. Even though I have organized many mega events in the past, visiting the CURVExpo offices last week reminded me of the relentless efforts required of a team of people to achieve a stellar result. In particular, I was on the scene as Development Director Josée Cote and CEO Pierre-Nicholas Hurstel were finalizing the details of Lingerie Fashion Night “IN”, the marquis event to be held February 24 at the TriBeCa Skyline Studio in NYC.  Showcasing 39 international intimate brands, the runway show will be an invitation only extravaganza, the highlights of which will be featured on Entertainment Tonight shortly after the show.  From the coordination of style flow, the analysis of model selection, the logistics of the location, the music and more, this powerhouse presentation will be the brainchild of many people and many long hours of prep work.  I expect it will be amazing, a combination of French savoir-faire and good old American sweat.  I would not be surprised if it will deserve a medal.
