Blue ~ Chantelle Lingerie

Untitled-1a

One message that prevailed for the lingerie industry this season was the importance of the color blue. It overshadowed every other trend indicator and permeated every single collection preview. Why? No doubt it has do with the fact that blue, all shades of it, is the most popular color in the world. French artist Yves Klein even patented his trademark ultramarine pigment “International Klein Blue”. In fact, it is Klein’s work with this color that is often identified as the foundation of modern Minimalism. It anticipated Conceptual, Performance and Environmental Art. Say what one may about his abstract journey into voids, Klein’s vision proved that a very basic element, like the color blue, could herald a new generation of art.

Klein’s perspective brings to mind the way Chantelle has interpreted this dominant trend in the Intimates market. The Intuition 3 part plunge bra is offered in black, ivory and myrtle blue. This combined palette creates a very clean, modern statement in a woman’s basic underwear drawer. It challenges the use of nude as a necessity for retail success filling the abyss with blue luxury. Constructed with Chantelle’s signature fit and trim details and expertly engineered for sizes 30-38, C-H cups, this bra is further proof of why this brand is so well positioned for the future of Lingerie design. Maybe it a coincidence that both Klein and Chantelle hail from the same French roots, but when it comes to art, I doubt it!

I love these bold blue colors for lingerie. Blue isn’t as harsh as black. Some may not perceive blue as being as “sexy” as black, but I disagree. It looks lovely against fairer skin tones and it is a little newer, a little “out there” than black. These bold blue colors are also fun to wear, exciting and unexpected!
