New York, New York ~ Inspiration is Everywhere
Curve NY is over and I have much to tell you, but while I organize my thoughts, I thought I’d share a bit of creative insight gleaned in NYC shopping in Soho yesterday with one of my clients, Laurence, a young lingerie designer from Canada. Let’s not discuss the $27 cab ride we endured while trapped in Wednesday matinee traffic. The trip was worth it. Besides the usual suspects like Maison Close and Agent Provocateur, we discovered a font of inspiration at the Swedish brand store COS. This modern minimalist aesthetic is a perfect counter-balance to the edgy sensuality of the Agent and Maison stories. Then, lunch at Ladurée provided the pretty pastel fulcrum that informs feminine mystique. Burberry is still one of my favorite sources for eclectic color and pattern mixing. Excuse the photo glare in some of these images, but the sun was bright; it was a beautiful day in the city yesterday, perfect for people watching. The streets were packed with the international insight that defines this metropolis. That gave us the incentive to avoid gridlock and walk, luggage and all; me to Grand Central, Laurence to her hotel.
