A Quick Note From Paris

I arrived Thursday after an overnight flight to Paris, checked into my hotel and was out and about shopping the stores all afternoon. Of course, everything was on sale and I was dog tired, so I didn’t see much. But, as always, Bon Marche raised the bar with the spectacular Chiharu Shiota air sculptures. I know in my heart that this will be a trend theme at the show tomorrow. I call it whispering light.

Friday was much more lucid. I started my day at The Foundation Louis Vuitton where The Shchukin Collection was on exhibit. Aptly titled Icons of Modern Art, this was a banquet of extraordinary Impressionism and Post Impressionism worth its weight in gold.  Best in show for me, The Rose Gallery, a room devoted entirely to Matisse. I sat there for awhile and soaked in the color.  More, perhaps later in another blog.

I left the museum and went directly to the Maison Lejaby showroom. I arrived just in time for the Lejaby Fall/ Winter fashion show. It was intimate, chic and beautifully executed. The collection is refreshing: modern, clean and saleable. A glass of champagne, miniature eclair and a chat with designer Pascale Renaux and I was on my way.

I capped the day in a small boutique near my hotel that sells Marseilles soaps. I replenish them whenever I travel to Paris. A 45 minute conversation with the two 20 something French sales girls and an older German lady about the political state of affairs in the USA (They are all 3, deeply worried) and I went back to my hotel to write this.

Signing off now for a glass of wine. Will try to enlighten you tomorrow, the first day of the Salon de Lingerie and Interfiliere tradeshow. But no worries, I will recap as always when I return.
