Gilded Glamour ~ Vannina Vesperini
By ALISON CONNOLLY
If you’ve been following along on this blog and on social media, you know that the Lingerie Briefs team recently had the pleasure of visiting Paris to view the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2018 lingerie collections. This is a big week for the intimate apparel industry, with plenty of fanfare, an incredible tradeshow (Salon International de la Lingerie), parties and dazzling runway shows. One such show was the AW18 “Dessous-Dessous” presentation by French lingerie veteran Vannina Vesperini.
A common golden thread ran throughout the upcoming collection as evidenced by plenty of gold lace trims and gold lamé fabrics. There was no shortage of decadence on display either with python-print and jewel-toned satin, feather capelets and even a marabou fur-trimmed camisole! Ultimately, all of these new textiles were used in combination with classic shapes that are part of Vannina Vesperini’s signature style.
It is my personal pleasure to showcase this brand in the Gallery because of the professional relationship I had with Vannina dating back to 2004 when my mom and I were first researching brands for our (now closed) boutique Faire Frou Frou. Vannina Vesperini was among the first labels we purchased for our shop, and set the bar for the level of quality and artistic expression we were looking for in a lingerie brand. It’s a pleasure to witness the brand’s longevity, and apparently its popularity (Vannina’s booth at the SIL tradeshow was continuously busy each time I walked by).
