“Me Time” at Maison Nouvelle

Lingerie brand Maison Nouvelle was born out of Dutch designer Maaike Nieuwenhuis’s fascination with craftsmanship. Granted, all of the designers we feature here in the Gallery are committed to quality craftsmanship, but Maison Nouvelle takes it one step further. Every piece is made to order, specific to your measurements and needs.

Many of the items on Maison Nouvelle’s website are ordered according to your body measurements (rather than standard sizing), along with any personal needs you might desire beyond size. Each online purchase is produced within a 14-day timeframe and shipped to the customer…but the journey doesn’t end there! If for some reason the lingerie does not have a perfect fit, the design team will either allow for a return to make the proper adjustments or tailor a completely new set. Not many lingerie designers offer that level of service!

For those of you fortunate enough to visit the Maison Nouvelle Amsterdam atelier, you can receive a first-class experience of getting measured and fit by a tailor for a customized set. You can even select from the finest selection of lace, silk and high quality materials for your special purchase. According to the brand’s website, each set of lingerie takes approximately 6-hours of labor to produce. It is the designer’s hope that your experience at their studio is as comfortable, intimate and tailored to your needs as possible. Nieuwenhuis refers to it as “me time”, which is essentially time for you to become the designer of your own lingerie sets, custom-made to your wishes. It’s an indulgence that is worth trying, and fortunately for us, it doesn’t come with a couture price tag.
