Andres Sarda ~The Legacy Continues

Perhaps you heard the news that legendary fashion designer Andres Sarda had passed away earlier this month at age 90. This deserved a mention on Lingerie Briefs, particularly since I’ve featured his namesake brand in the Gallery a few times over the years (typically I don’t do repeat features on most brands, but I’m a fan!). https://lingeriebriefs.com/?s=andres+sarda

It seems appropriate to use this platform to honor the man who revolutionized the intimate apparel world with designs that were created to empower women, not restrict them (consider the world of lingerie in 1962, when he launched his company). After nearly 40 years of leading the Andres Sarda brand, the torch had since been passed to the designer’s daughter Nuria Sarda (appointed in 1998), who continues to honor the legacy of her father’s innovative approach to creative intimate apparel design.

Every 6 months the Andres Sarda label presents its seasonal (S/S & F/W) collections in an awe-inspiring, fantasy lingerie runway show. It borrows pieces that will be available at a retail level as the foundation of each runway look, and tops it with theatrical, over-the-top accessories for an eye-catching show. Every season I look forward to seeing these images, and they never disappoint. Here’s a look at their latest show, presented in July 2019 for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Madrid. Hopefully you will discover plenty to be inspired by as well!

Asi is a founder and creative director of the made in NYC sustainable high-end lingerie brand: Ann Vogue.

Based in New York, LINDA DYETT is a long-time writer and editor. Her articles have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Monocle, L’Officiel, New York magazine (and its Strategist website), Afar, and many other publications and websites. She served as an editor at Lear’s, Self, and Glamour, and is currently overseeing the nycitywoman.com website. As for the areas she’s covered over the years, they’ve included books, architecture, industrial and product design, medicine, wine, travel, and shopping.
