Introducing Siren + Sage: Supportive, Made-to-Layer Swimwear

It’s focused on two-piece sets, but they’re not bikinis. Rather, the idea is that you pick a bikini top and pair it with one of their OverKinis, unique one pieces specifically designed for layering over the bikini top. It’s all the coverage and smoothing of a one-piece tummy control swimsuit, with all the support of a band-cup sized bikini bra – and a stylish multi-layer look to boot.

The idea for Siren + Sage was born from a poolside conversation between the founders, mother and daughter duo Deb DeGrenier and Lauryl Lombard. Lauryl had recently had a baby and was yet to find a one-piece that felt both flattering and comfortable, describing her choices as “either weird cutouts or a Miraclesuit—and neither felt like me.” She wanted something that would lift, shape and feel highly wearable, but also feel cool and modern.

As for one-piece designs, Lauryl tried many of them but says:

“They just didn’t work for a D+ bust. The cups were too small, there was no back band for support, and shelf bras didn’t hold anything up or give a flattering shape. Removable pads bunched up or got lost, and the suits were often too short—especially since larger cups took up more length.”

By the time the pair found themselves at the pool that day, musing about wearing a regular bra under a one-piece bathing suit, something just clicked. Why not create something altogether new that combines the best parts of all the swimsuits she’d ever tried on?

Siren + Sage Layered OverKini Swimwear as featured on Lingerie BriefsInstead of trying to design the perfect one-piece, the Siren + Sage system lets women build a swimsuit that works for their unique body shape. 18 balconette sizes allow for a precision fit up top, whether you need a 32E or a 36B, while the OverKini sizing is chosen separately so you’re not stuck with a fixed body length based on your band or cup size.

To make it all happen, they turned to Suzy of Suzy Wakefield Designs who has extensive product development experience in the field of contour fashion.

“They had an incredible idea…” she says, “It revolved around supporting (literally and figuratively) this D+ customer who has a small band and proportionally, body, relative to her bust. This is where the layered suits came into play, which I also know from much experience designing swimwear is a need in and of itself. It’s a challenge for some women to find a one piece that works for their torso length.”

They are all lightweight at the top to drape seamlessly over the bikini tops, but have strong power mesh in the lower half for sculpting support. The bikini counterpart is available in smooth or textured fabric and in a range of complementary (rather than straight up matching) colors, and the straps can also be swapped out for extra color contrast.

As the brand grows, Siren + Sage is planning to add additional bikini top styles for those who don’t necessarily need lots of lift, but perhaps just like the layering idea for its coverage or its fun look. They also want to add ‘busty’ versions of their OverKinis with more space up top, as well as expanding the base size range “well beyond” the current maximum of an XL / US 12-14.

Siren + Sage Layered OverKini Swimwear as featured on Lingerie BriefsSiren + Sage’s debut collection is priced at $128 for bikini tops and $188 for OverKinis, with regular bikini bottoms also available for $88 to add an additional styling option to your set.
