Fleur of England AW25: Celebrating Women, and 24 Years of Luxury British Design
By ESTELLE PULESTON

One of the first premium intimate apparel brands I can remember purchasing, Fleur of England was established in 2001 and has since gone on to become an icon of the luxury British lingerie world, having carved out a niche that’s grounded in refined, timeless sophistication and beautiful craftsmanship.

Simone
Its founder is Fleur Christacos, who saw a need for truly empowering, beautifully-fitting lingerie while working in an upmarket lingerie boutique alongside her fashion marketing studies. Others in the industry clearly saw a need for it too; her debut collection – designed while still a student – caught the attention of the buying director at Liberty, London’s famous high-end department store, where it launched soon after.

Now, 24 years later, the Bristol-based brand is going from strength to strength with stockists all over the world. Its ongoing success, I believe, can be attributed to the fact it’s still Fleur herself who designs and fits every piece, ensuring the lingerie stays true to her original vision for luxurious intimates that celebrate women and, in Fleur’s words, “the beauty of being completely, unapologetically yourself.”

The new AW25 collection comprises four ranges – Lola, Simone, Cecilia, Onyx – in a rich, sensual color palette of raspberry, amethyst, spicy rouge and black. “I often think of color as the soul of the collection — it sets the tone before the first sketch is even drawn”, she explained when asked to describe her design process

Lola is the most modern-feeling range in the collection however, crafted from simple Italian mesh with glossy silk-bounded edges and strapping details. These styles draw from the popularity of the earlier Fleur du Jour creations, a similarly-minimalist range in black and blush, but the Lola silhouettes feel younger and bolder with their cut-out details, skimpier sides and of course, punchy raspberry hue.

Cecilia
“AW25 draws inspiration from life’s most intimate and unforgettable moments,” explains Fleur, “stolen neck kisses, lingering coffee dates, exhilarating midnight car rides. The kinds of memories that make your heart race and stay with you. Every piece is designed to evoke joy and sensuality.”

Cecilia
Luckily, even after 24 years, the design ideas continue to flow. Even her daily countryside walks, she says, are a constant source of inspiration: “There’s something about wildflowers, light filtering through the trees, or birdsong at golden hour that never fails to stir something in me.”

Lola
And like so many designers, her travels also elicit plenty of new ideas, whether it’s from something she’s seen in the local area’s architecture, its textiles, or simply a fresh new color palette. Fleur of England has a very signature look, but it’s also always evolving and keeping up with the times – classic, but not old-fashioned. No wonder it is more popular than ever as it approaches quarter of a century of existence.

Lola
All Fleur of England lingerie is crafted in small batches in Wales or Portugal, and the brand’s size range covers 30-38 bands, US A-H cups, and XS-2XL. Lingerie separates begin at £50 (approx. $65), bodysuits from £95 (approx. $130) and nightwear from £135 (approx. $180.)
