The Alchemy of Design, Food, and Beauty: A New Narrative in Fashion

By ELLEN LEWIS

Tina’s Vision: Merging Food, Fabric and Beauty into One Concept

After four decades navigating the nuanced corridors of the lingerie world, I’ve developed a sixth sense for transformation, those quiet rumblings that, with time, become seismic shifts. Recently, I’ve felt one of those tremors reverberating across the fashion landscape, not in the form of a trend, but as a cultural recalibration. The once-rigid lines between design, food, and beauty are dissolving, giving rise to a richer, more immersive creative dialogue. It’s not just fashion, it’s sensorial. It’s emotional. It’s experiential.

This evolution demands a different kind of visionary. Which is why I feel compelled to spotlight someone I hold in both personal and professional esteem: my colleague and friend, Tina Wilson, and her latest endeavor, Tina Wilson Design.

Tina and I met years ago, our connection sparked by a shared curiosity and deep respect for the artistry that defines intimate apparel. That connection has since evolved into a creative kinship, rooted in a mutual commitment to pushing boundaries and nurturing innovation. When Tina told me she was launching her own initiative, I couldn’t help but reflect on the journey I took over sixteen years ago when Lingerie Briefs was born. It takes courage. But more than that it takes vision.

Tina Captures the Donna Karen aesthetic in a Mood Board

Tina’s résumé speaks volumes. From her design work with icons Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, to her creative imprint on Commando, Ralph Lauren, Natori, Wacoal, and more she’s long been a quiet force behind some of the industry’s most enduring brands. As Vice President of Design at HUE and later, President of the Underfashion Club, her influence has extended far beyond product. It’s been about shaping culture.

And then there’s her artistry Tina’s illustrations, a hallmark of her monthly Fashion Illustration column here on Lingerie Briefs, have brought a certain lyricism to our pages. They don’t just showcase fashion they tell its story. Her unique ability to distill mood, movement, and emotion into line and color is a gift that transcends category.

Now, with her consultancy, Tina Wilson Design, she’s stepping fully into a new role, curator of an experience where lingerie, food, and beauty intersect. In her world, a silk camisole can be inspired by a brushstroke of espresso, a lipstick hue can inform a color palette, and design is no longer confined to the seams of a garment. It lives and breathes across the entire sensory spectrum.

This is more than a brand. It’s a new language of femininity; bold, modern, and deeply rooted in personal expression. And if there’s anyone who can speak it fluently, it’s Tina.
