Not Your Grandma’s Bathing Suit . . . . . . Panache Swimwear

I grew up a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean and by the time I was 21, I had moved to a seaside community nearby, and had an apartment literally at the water’s edge. We spent a great deal of time on the beach, on the boardwalk and in boats. This presented a challenge for me, a lushly endowed young woman who today would be labeled a Curvy Girl. My swimwear options were a one piece bathing suit that screamed grandmother, thick, draped and usually black. Oh yes, and very wide shoulder straps. They made me hot (the sweaty kind) just looking at them. My friends were in bikinis. I was not a happy camper. My solution was a bit outside of the box. I wore my under-wire Bali full cup bra beneath a bright turquoise blue or pink Danskin stretch leotard. At least the fabric was light and the colors were bright. My bra life was always a compromise. In the 70’s and 80’s, no one really focused on the endowed woman, particularly when it came to fashion swimwear.

That’s why Panache’s Swimwear brand is a welcomed fashion anchor, at least for this generation’s full cup female population. This two piece bandeau bikini top and drawstring pant, part of the Nancy group, gives me a sense of satisfaction about how far the intimate world has come. This style fuses Panache’s stellar bra fit into a water worthy design supporting sizes 30-38, D–H cups. Oh yes, and the removable straps are very skinny. I’m a little bit jealous because my bikini days are long gone and this collection would have been a real lifesaver.
