Curve NY: My Perspective

A Brief summary of the Curve Ny show: ENERGY. For tried and true merchants, there’s nothing better than live interaction, face to face meetings and touching the merchandise. I got positive feedback: satisfied buyers, satisfied brands. Of course, there was some pushback, but how else do we rise to new challenges. Traffic was definitely up. This show was larger than the February show. The product mix was somewhat eclectic. Barbie was everywhere and I do not mean in product only. Pucci confirmed the throwback attitude cropping up in several collections. Keep an eye on new collections: Inej: a vibrant silk print collection, matching slippers, and solid coordinates. Latte Love: gauze loungewear and printed bamboo sleep pieces value priced. Buyers loved it. Crave: Pleasure meets Jewelry: designed by a female industrial designer who gets it.

The fashion trends were in sync with Spring 2024 lingerie perspectives identified at other intimate apparel venues presenting in Paris, LA and NY. And, I would be remiss if I did not mention the Lingerie Briefs Salon, where 10 emerging brands showcase their designs.

Main message: Dynamic color palettes. Blue and Pink exploded from electric to pastel diffused into purple. Bursts of orange, green and yellow counterpointed with desert neutrals. Sun soaked pastels. Lots of beige combined with black. Of course, black, and white: sheer and lacy. Beyond the intensity of the palette were rising shapes: rompers and jumpsuits. And the usual suspects returning with a vengeance: bridal, sports bras sexy underpinnings and a tremendous focus on basic bras.
