My bosom buddy Jene Luciani is the national spokesperson for Curvy Kate USA and their “Star in a Bra” Model Search which recently launched here in the USA. Jene is taping a “bra makeover” segment for Wendy Williams and I have been asked to model the Curvy Kate “Portia” Bra on the show! Tune into The Wendy Williams Show on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 to see the two of us in bra-action!
The Lingerie Goddess, Margaret Shrum, is showcasing several NY-based Lingerie Designers at the “Shop for Kids” Spring Shopping Soiree on Tuesday, May 1st from 6-8pm at the Doncaster Fashion Showroom at 145 West 57th Street, 20th Floor (between 6th & 7th Aves.) Margaret will be accompanied by Alexis Chasman who will be offering her Spring Accessories Collection. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Change for Kids. Join the Intimate Affair, have a glass of Wine and indulge in affordable luxury!
I have to say that I am really proud to be a member of this organization…. The Underfashion Club hosted “Shopping 2.0” on Tuesday, April 17th at The St. Giles Hotel in NYC and I was truly impressed by the program. Members of the Club enjoyed cocktails while networking with fellow industry pros which was then followed by a Panel Discussion on E-commerce, M-commerce, and Social Media platforms for Lingerie Brands & Businesses. The Intimate Affair was moderated by Luis Paredes, publisher of the leading online publication, The Lingerie Journal, and panelists included Layla L’obatti from BTS Lingerie, Kevin Doyle from Trifecta (an e-commerce solutions company with clients such as Wacoal America), and Ken Natori from The Natori Company. Attendees included professionals from the intimate apparel industry and related fields such as Josie Natori, Suzanne Beck from Tianhai Lace, Club president Walter Costello from Macra Lace, Karyn Monget from Women’s Wear Daily, Lifetime Member of the Club Rosalyn Harte from Lances Harte, Jean Luc and Laurence Teinturier from CurvExpo, among others. I urge you to become a member of this unique non-profit organization which is dedicated to education. The Club provides Scholarships, Awards, Internships and Grants to deserving students at the high school and college level that are pursuing a career in intimate apparel. Panelist Layla L’obatti is a former Underfashion Club scholarship recipient and now does her part to give back to the Club which supported her education at FIT.
On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, The Natori Company celebrated the launch of their latest line, N Natori. The Intimate Affair was held in the Natori Showroom on Madison Avenue with Nicolette Mason, blogger and columnist of Marie Claire’s “Big Girl in a Skinny World.” Guests were treated to professional fittings and participated in a question and answer session with Josie Natori and Nicolette Mason. The N Natori collection targets the full figure consumer while maintaining Natori’s well-recognized sophisticated sensibility. Sizes range from 32C to 40H and sleepwear runs to size 1X and are offered at an accessible price-point.
ILOVEAGOOD is hosting the store opening party for Bradelis New York on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in Nolita, NYC. The Intimate Affair is by “invitation only” and will feature bra fittings (all the Bradelis bra fitters have been trained in Japan) and champagne, of course. Bradelis is a high-end Japanese lingerie brand that is relatively new to the States. Bradelis’ bras and panties are made from gorgeous lace and other high-end fabrics.
I will be co-hosting a press/media event with the US distribution company, Revival Brands, in the 2nd week of May. The Intimate Affair will feature luxury, Italian brand Philippe Matignon. Philippe Matignon’s luxurious hosiery was introduced to the States last year…. And now, their Intimate Apparel line is being introduced to the US market at this exclusive industry event.
Bra La Mode is having an Intimate Affair on Saturday, May 12th at Bra Smyth in NYC! It is a “Celebration of Women” in honor of Mother’s Day including An Afternoon Tea Party (and champagne, of course) hosted by Chambre de Sucre Imported Gourmet Sugars and is sponsored by luxury French lingerie brand Simone Perele in collaboration with The Lingerie Journal. Our featured guest is Fine Lingerie Stylist and Personal Shopper, “The Lingerie Goddess” Margaret Shrum. More details to follow!
