Intimate Insider News

I’ve always been bothered by the heat… I much prefer the Spring and Fall seasons over the steamy Summer months. However, hot Summer nights inspire me to pull out some of my favorite sleepwear pieces such as Cami Sets and Rompers in buttery soft modal fabric or rayon blends. These fabrics drape so effortlessly. And I’m a sucker for their cool hand… There’s nothing better against my skin. Check out the adorable “Prisoner of Love” Teddy I picked up at last week’s Eberjey Sample Sale… I LOVE IT!
Last Thursday, June 21st, 50 dancers kicked-up their skirts (exposing their Hanky Panky panties) to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the Flatiron building! The Flatiron “Flashmobseque” was inspired by the historical legend which coined the term, “23 Skidoo.” It is said that in the first decades of the twentieth century, the ship-like shape of the Flatiron building carved a windy slice in the New York City skyline, which would blow women’s dresses up, exposing seldom seen legs and causing men to loiter and watch. Local authorities would say “23 Skidoo” to the men, which meant they better stop their gazing and get out while the getting was good. Hanky Panky sponsored the Intimate Affair by providing Hanky Panky boyshorts for the dancers and stylish Hanky Panky fans for all the flash mobsters! The site-specific dance theatre performance was choreographed and produced by Shandoah Goldman and was followed by an After Party at the ultra trendy Gershwin Hotel on 27th Street.
CLO Intimo is hosting Champagne and Strawberries Summer Soiree and Sample Sale on Tuesday, June 26th at Archstone Murray Hill. The Intimate Affair will also feature the handcrafted jewelry brand Poupette NYC, designed by Geri Roucaute.

Attention Lingerie Designers! The next edition of the Lingerie Journal Designer Showcase is opening its doors this summer. They had an incredibly successful show this past February with 10 independent designers showing their lines and a sold out Brand Affair Seminar and Lingerie Exhibition that drew in close to 200 guests including buyers, lingerie retail store owners, independent lingerie designers, wholesale manufacturers, influential lingerie bloggers, and other intimate apparel professionals. Designers interested in exhibiting at this summer’s show should contact info@lingeriedesignershowcase.com to request an application. Space is very limited, so be sure to register quickly.
SAVE THE DATE! Luis Paredes, publisher of The Lingerie Journal, and I have partnered together to create something truly unique…. We will be officially announcing our latest endeavor on Monday July 9th and will be celebrating our partnership with a Launch Party and Lingerie Fashion Exhibition on Saturday, August 4th. Stay tuned for the official announcement!
As you know, I am a proud member of the non-profit Intimate Apparel Square Club (IASC.) IASC raises funds to support pediatric rehabilitation at NYU Langone Medical Center’s RUSK Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. Our largest fundraiser of the year is the H.U.G. Award Gala which is held each November during Market Week. This year’s H.U.G. Gala is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7th and will be held at 230 Fifth Avenue Penthouse. Mark your calendars and keep your eyes open for invitations in early Fall. We recently announced this year’s honorees which include LuAnn Via, president and CEO of Payless Shoe Source, Inc., Steve Chernoff, chairman of Rago Foundations, LLC, and the Lifetime Achievement Award is being presented to longtime Club member Janet Peters.
I’d also like to mention that the Children’s Museum of the Arts is currently exhibiting artwork created by the children in the RUSK Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and children from PS116. The artwork has been created through the Creating Connections program and will be on display through September 30th. The Children’s Museum of the Arts is located at 103 Charlton Street, NYC.
