Glossie Revival ~ Gossard Lingerie

glossies

Many years ago, in a lifestyle far far away, before I had a custom made body by baby(s), I spent time sculling through the intimates market looking for product ideas and partners that would work with the challenge that we, at Macy’s, had been given to develop great brands.  The lingerie market back then, dare I give the date, 1985, was a sea of blue and pink, and I, fresh from the RTW world had no idea that vivid hues were not “de riguer” in either the foundations or sleepwear categories. I asked the simple question: “Where’s the Color” and was dismissed as a neophyte.  But sometimes knowledge is a dangerous thing, and so furnished with none, we initiated programs bursting with color.  There was one believer in the market at the time, Lily of France, and when they launched their glossies bra program, those of us searching for change were smitten.

So imagine my nostalgia when I saw the Gossard collection of Glossies, sheer bras glowing with tints of color totally reminiscent of those bras of yester year.  Of course, they have been updated and engineered to fit 32-38, C – G cups.  This would have been great during my body before baby years, but unfortunately, the fashion milestone for full cups had not yet been conquered. Constructed in a shimmery stretch mesh, these bras and matching panties are even sexier than their inspiration. Gossard is a 110 year old British brand well vested in  fit and function with a global following that is worth researching and Glossies are a worldwide best seller.  And as my friend and colleague, Maureen Stabnau of Bare Necessities told me when I queried her on the product “How could we not try them; they reminded me of the old Lily product”. Sorry, Maureen, didn’t mean to reveal your age!

Ellen and Maureen I too am a member of this ‘club’ and very excited about the resurgence of a natural bra after so many years of the foam helmets.
    Rushing to Bare Necessities now!
