My View ~ CurvExpo NY Part 1
Christine Lingerie
Curve NY was, as always, a 3 day marathon of appointments for me. I missed a few interesting brands and worst of all, lost my notebook containing two full days of notes. Not to worry, resurrection is imminent as I make contact with each company whose input is somewhere in a NYC taxi cab.
Curve is a giant gallery of brands and my preference is to curate trends prevalent to the industry as it moves forward. But, because many companies do not attend this show, no insight will be complete until I can review the Lingerie market in depth and that takes weeks. One point of import: the influence of swimwear on Intimates is clear. I have integrated some of those ideas into the total tale..
I found several stories emerging from the show. I took over 500 images (definitely amateur status) to define these trends. This year, for the sake of your sanity (and mine) I will separate these messages into two parts so stay tuned for more this week. Today, it’s all about color and print. It seemed to me that there were many more print statements but without a doubt, the two major themes were florals; washed and painterly counterpoised with modern architectural graphics. Of course, there is always whimsy. Color was a range of brights and pales mixed with earthy neutrals, but the prints impressed me, which is hard to do. I have never been a print person. Maybe Mexico has had its influence.
