By ELLEN LEWIS

Christine Lingerie 100% silk charmeuse collection in the elegant Toile Jardin print

There is no denying my respect for Christine Morton’s eponymous brand. I have covered the Christine  Lingerie collection before.  To me, it is an art gallery, a panoply of silk canvasses, each one worth displaying individually for its creative expression.

It reminds me of my mother and the French toile wallpaper in her bedroom when I was young. Of course, my mom, now long gone, is often on my mind. However, every May as her birthday and Mother’s Day approaches, the memory percolates. She was a connoisseur of elegance, understatement, and creativity. She respected luxury, but never exploited it. She proffered quality as a viable investment. And she was an avid swimmer. How does this relate. I asked Christine for the inspiration for the Toile Jardin story. Her response:

“Different French tapestries and fabrics. Heavenly Blue is a classic colour to use. The sky and the ocean where I swim every morning. This print on pure silk charmeuse is very soft and elegant.”

My mother is not here, but what a keepsake any of this 7 piece sleep and loungewear collection would be for any mother worthy of the gift of appreciation.
