The winter weather has arrived! It has been incredibly brisk here in New York. And I understand there was a bit of snow in Paris during the 50th Anniversary edition of Salon International de la Lingerie as well. Despite the delayed flights and mucky city streets, I bet the flurries inspired a certain romanticism. I can only imagine the Paris city lights twinkling through a nighttime snow fall… It seems apropos that the theme of the renowned show’s trend forum was “Ice Land” which featured four “universes” — Romantic, Innovation, Savage and Neo Nude. I first saw this emerging trend last year at a preview of the Marlies Dekkers Winter 2012 “Ice Queen” – Cool Scandinavia collection. At first glance, I fell in love with the icy, frosted, muted hues which were presented in delicate snowflake-inspired laces and embroideries adorned with crystal embellishments. The colors are quite a departure from the more traditional lingerie colors- black, nude, pink and red.
