Empowering the Future of Intimate Apparel
By ELLEN LEWIS
WHY SUPPORTING THE UNDERFASHION CLUB MATTERS
Recently, I interviewed three women, ages 24-27, for a webinar I am planning for The Underfashion Club where I serve on the Board of Directors. This 67-year old non-profit organization is a cornerstone of the Intimate Apparel and Underwear Industry. Our webinar will explore how Gen Z shops, their relationship with social media and how they perceive their future careers. Why am I doing this? Because these programs offer valuable insights and learning opportunities that help members grow professionally. After all, at the heart of what we do is education, and education is empowering. This is just one example of the meaningful outreach we offer.
There are also networking events, internships, grants, and the renowned Student Design Contest providing scholarships for future Innerwear design talent in the industry. In the past 10 years The Underfashion Club has raised over $1.2 million benefiting students from a multitude of schools including the Fashion Institute of Technology, Drexel University, Jefferson University, LIM College, Parsons School of Design, Marist College, and more.
The key fundraiser, the Femmy Gala, provides press, social networking, and industry-wide exposure. Unfortunately, this year due to financial pressures caused by world events, we have been forced to put the celebration on hold. I am reaching out to you for your help. We need to keep this vital organization in the Lingerie Industry alive. We welcome the support from Industry Leaders, Retailers and lingerie aficionados who believe in the viability of the Intimate’s Industry. There is so much power in giving back.
This initiative is critical to the survival of The Underfashion Club. Personally, this is important to me. I am asking for a donation, no matter the size. It can have a profound impact.
