Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad Bra?

By Lindsey Borchard

If someone walked up to you and asked you your bra size, would you be able to tell them?

I know you have all probably heard the statistics by now; 80% of women are in the wrong size. I know you would never buy the wrong dress size or you would never buy a pair of jeans that were slightly smaller then you needed. So why are women constantly buying bras that are not fitting them?

My conclusion: Lack of knowledge.

Lingerie in my opinion is the foundation to a great outfit. It’s the first layer we put on, the one we wear closest to our heart and the one that will make us feel sexier then any little black dress out there. But I know what you’re thinking, “I hate bra shopping, I don’t want someone grabbing and pulling on me to get fit, I think there is nothing in my size that’s pretty, or I don’t want to spend the money on a good bra, blah blah blah.” I’ve heard all the excuses before, because I used to make them too.

Before I started working in lingerie I didn’t know anything about proper fit. I was having an awful relationship with my breasts because I was stuffing them into a 38D. Then like in Cinderella, a fairy godmother came and changed my life forever. However in my story she didn’t appear out of nowhere and give me a ball gown or glass slipper. My fairy godmother flew in from London and gave me a perfect fitting bra, which wasn’t a 38D but a 36E.  And just like that, my relationship with my breasts was changed forever!

However I know some of you are reading this and thinking, “E!!! That is SO big.”

I don’t know why we think that being bigger then a D is bad, it doesn’t mean your fat and it doesn’t mean your breasts are abnormal. It means, in the words of my fairy godmother, “You have a fabulous rack!” So who the heck cares if you’re a D, E, F, G, H or even Z! As long as you feel good, you’ll look good and no one needs to know your bra size unless you want to share it with the world.

I quickly learned, thanks to my Claudette bras, that you don’t have to sacrifice fit for fashion, especially if you have larger breasts. And you don’t have to rob a bank to buy them either. This past Saturday I spent several hours trying on some other brands and all sorts of different styles. So of course I naturally want to share all of my favorites with you!

Below are some of my favorite bras that in my opinion should be in everyone’s bra drawer. And the best part, they are all under $90!

So go ahead and stop with the excuses. Find your local lingerie store and GO GET FIT, and get a fresh start with your breasts. I dare you!

Those are all gorgeous! I love the Claudette and the Natori; how much did they cost?
