Swimsuit Daydreams

By Lindsey Borchard

It may not be summer right now, but this hot weather has got me thinking about swimwear a lot more these days than usual.

Growing up, I remember the summers of trying to hide my growing chest in a basic black one piece that gave me more of a uni-boob then the curves I was wishing for. Summers were the worst time of year for me. A time that everyone got to show off their cute swimsuits and I was stuck in my boring black one piece. Back then they didn’t have brands making suits for large cup girls like myself. And if there were brands, I sure had no idea about any of them. If you had any curves at all or a large chest, you were stuck in a one piece with one giant uni-boob. It was horrible for my fragile teenage self-esteem.

I am happy to say that today you have A LOT more options. You have brands like Freya, Panache, Fantasie, Aerin Rose and even Curvy Kate making great swimwear for the large busted ladies. Good-bye to the days of horrible boring one-pieces that make you feel anything but sexy. Don’t be afraid to branch out and find something that makes you feel good and fits well. It’s out there, I swear!  With websites like Bare Necessities, Fig Leaves, Her Room, and Asos making it easy to get your hands on these lovely suits, there’s no reason to be in that boring black one piece of your youth. The teenage girl inside me is screaming for joy over the options young girls and women like myself have out there now. There’s no reason to cover up and hide anymore. Flaunt what you got and be proud of the body you have because you only get one! So be sure to love it with all your heart.

Check out some of my favorite suits below.

The Kansas Bluebell Banded Halter bikini from Freya comes in sizes C-H. The Kansas offers a plunging, frilled neckline and powernet lining to create great cleavage.

The Adelphi Black Bandeau Tankini from Freya is a bold and beautiful floral swimsuit that will flatter your every curve. What’s even better then the gorgeous print is that this suits comes with an integral bra, and detachable halter necktie. Sizes D-G

The Tallulah Swimsuit by Panache is one of the best one pieces I have seen in a while. I love the mix of bold floral print and the soft charcoal grey. The retro style and always-flattering sweet heart neckline will give you the figure you have always dreamed of.  Available in sizes D-J.

The Aruba suit from Fantasie has it all. Offered in a bikini or one-piece in sizes D-J.

Then there’s Curvy Kate, famous for their great D-K bras and their “Star in a bra” model search. Curvy Kate is now coming out with their own swimwear for 2013. Below are some of the styles I can’t wait to get my hands on.

Did you know they also have a new Facebook app where you can design your own set of Curvy Kate Swimwear? They have over 60,000 different options you could create. Plus for every design you come up with, you’re one step closer to winning their whole spring/summer 2013 swimwear collection. Now that’s enough reason to jump on board!
